The Call to Go: A Sermon on Evangelism!

Writer's picture: Kevin SellersKevin Sellers

We need to contemplate a sacred mission, one entrusted to us by our Lord Himself: the call to evangelize. This is not merely a suggestion, but a command, a divine obligation that rests upon every believer's heart.

I stand before you today with a message that weighs heavily on my heart: the urgent need for evangelism. We are called, as followers of Jesus, to be witnesses of His light in a world desperately yearning for it.

The Great Commission, given by Jesus Himself, rings in our ears: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:15-16). This is not a mere suggestion, but a command, a sacred duty entrusted to each of us.

We live in a world shrouded in darkness, where hearts are filled with fear, uncertainty, and a deep longing for meaning. People are searching for answers, for hope, for a reason to believe. And it is our responsibility, as those who have been blessed with the knowledge of God's love and salvation, to share this gift with others.

Some may feel hesitant, unsure of their abilities or fear rejection. But remember, we are not alone in this mission.

The Holy Spirit empowers us, equips us with the right words, and gives us the courage to speak the truth in love.

Think of the countless souls who have yet to hear the message of Christ's love. Think of the children who grow up without knowing the joy of belonging to a loving Father. Think of the families yearning for hope and peace. Can we stand by and watch them continue in darkness when we hold the light?

Evangelism is not about forcing our beliefs on others, but about sharing the love and grace that has transformed our own lives. It is about planting seeds of faith and allowing the Holy Spirit to work within hearts. It is about building bridges of understanding and compassion, showing the world the beauty of Christ's teachings through our actions and words.

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Let us rise to this challenge. Let us set aside our fears and doubts and embrace the call to evangelize. Let us share the good news with our neighbors, families, friends, and strangers we encounter.

Remember, the world needs Christ. They need His love, His forgiveness, His hope. And we, as His followers, are the instruments chosen to bring His light to the world.

Let us go forth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and fulfill the Great Commission. Let our lives be a testament to God's love, and let our voices ring out with the message of salvation. Let us be the change we wish to see in the world, one heart transformed at a time.

May God bless you and strengthen you in your journey of evangelism.
